Starting from Mensforth Park in Tooleybuc, enjoy this peaceful walk from the Tooleybuc Bridge along the Murray River, finishing at the Tooleybuc Sporting Club. The heritage-listed Tooleybuc Bridge was the last of the timber truss bridges with a lift span to be built over the Murray River.
Head north and see the Bridge Keepers Cottage on Murray St. The 1930s-era timber and tin cottage has been restored. It was home to the Bridge Keeper and his family up until 1994. Adjacent to the cottage is the original Punt Gate. Mensforth Park also features a playground and picnic area.
From here, follow the river along the sealed path and enjoy the glorious river, birdlife, and fresh air. When the path nears Herbert St, turn off and head to the Tooleybuc Sporting Club, home to the enormous Mallee Root – the second-biggest ever found.
