Nominations are open for candidates to take part in the NSW local government elections on 4 December.
People from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to be a voice for their communities as local councillors and improve representation of women, indigenous communities, multicultural communities, and youth.
Minister for Local Government Shelley Hancock said being a local councillor offers a rewarding career, as it provides the opportunity to work with local residents and businesses to improve the lifestyle and amenity of their community.
“Our local council plays a vital role in making our community a better place to live, work and play and our councillors make important decisions on behalf of our local residents,” Mrs Hancock said.
“If you have a strong sense of community and are keen to make a difference in your local neighbourhood, then you should nominate for the 4 December local government elections.”
Candidate nominations are open until midday on Wednesday, 3 November.
NSW’s art and cultural institutions and independent artists will receive $1 million in financial support to stage next year’s inaugural Sydney WorldPride Festival.
