The purpose of this procedure is to:
- provide approved employees with instructions for conducting employee searches in a Juvenile Justice Centre: conducted for the purpose of detection, retrieval, reporting and disposal of dangerous, harmful or contraband items and to prevent the removal of nonauthorised items from a Juvenile Justice Centre
- set out how officers of the Department are to carry out their work in order to assist the Secretary to discharge their functions under the Children (Detention Centres) Regulations 2015 (NSW).
This search procedure must never be used to intimidate or harass an employee.
