'We recognise that nurses and midwives have worked incredibly hard throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and have continued to provide extraordinary and compassionate care,' said Ms Wendy Gleeson, Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery, Far West LHD.
'I am inviting our community to recognise and celebrate nurses and midwives by nominating a nurse or midwife in the Healing Hearts consumer category. This is your opportunity to acknowledge excellent care received by you or your loved ones,' she said.
The Healing Hearts award is a consumer-nominated award to recognise a nurse or midwife who consistently provides extraordinary, safe, quality and compassionate care. This nurse or midwife will demonstrate an uncompromising commitment to elevating the consumers experience by building connection with patients, clients, women and their families through trust, kindness and empowerment.
The awards are part of wider Far West LHD celebrations which acknowledge International Day of the Midwife on 5 May 2022 and International Nurses Day on 12 May 2022. The Healing Heart award along with peer nominated awards will be announced on 12 May 2022.
Ms Gleeson said the Far West LHD was excited to be able to recognise and acknowledge the passion, dedication and amazing contribution of our nurses and midwives within the Far West LHD.
The successful award recipients will also be nominated in the 2022 NSW Health Excellence in Nursing and Midwifery Awards which will be held in Sydney later this year.
Nominations for the Healing Hearts consumer nominated award close on 29 April 2022 at 5pm. Nomination forms can be found on the FWLHD website at https://bit.ly/3sFyaKO or at your local Far West LHD health facility.
