The commitment and compassion of allied health professionals in the Far West Local Health District has been celebrated, with a special morning tea at Broken Hill Health Service.
The event, which was part of Allied Health Professions Day (14 October 2023), highlights the value of allied health professionals to the health system and providing care and outcomes which matter to patients. This year’s theme for Allied Health Professions Day was ‘Stronger Together’.
Director of Allied Health and Integrated Community Services, Ms Melissa Welsh, said allied health professionals work holistically with consumers, providing a broad range of diagnostic, technical, therapeutic, and wellbeing services.
“We are so proud to have such a dedicated and skilled allied health workforce in the Far West,” Ms Welsh said.
“I want to thank them for providing a diverse range of services across our region each and every day, allowing patients to access these treatments close to home.”
The contribution of allied health clinicians to their communities will be formally celebrated at the 2024 Excellence in Allied Health Awards, with nominations now open.
“We have exceptional opportunities for our workforce in the Far West and it is wonderful to see our staff showcased on a state level,” Ms Welsh said.
“In 2022, Ms Rebecca Smith won the award for Allied Health Leader of the Year, while Ms Stephanie Wylie received a nomination in the Early Career Allied Health Professionals category, so we have high hopes for the 2024 Awards.”
