When to apply for re-accreditation

You can apply for re-accreditation to teach in NSW if you had your accreditation:

cancelled voluntarily
ceased
revoked.

As a returning teacher you must:

meet the minimum requirements for Provisional accreditation in NSW
consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.

The criminal history check is part of our Teacher Accreditation reform to better protect children.

Ninety-five percent of criminal history checks get processed within 10 business days. Some checks may need further information or investigation. We contact you if we need more information.

Retired teachers

If you are a retired teacher who is interested in returning to the classroom, NESA can support you to return to teaching.

a NSW school prior to 1 October 2004, or
an approved centre-based early childhood service prior to 18 July 2016.
