E10 FAQs
Frequently asked questions about the E10 fuel compatibility check service.
The E10 compatibility database only includes petrol vehicles manufactured after 2000 where the manufacturer provides information about the vehicle’s compatibility with ethanol-blended fuel.
If there is no information from the manufacturer about the vehicle’s compatibility with ethanol blends, then the vehicle will not be listed on the database. Recently released vehicles may also not be listed. These may be added in future updates, depending on when the manufacturer makes the ethanol compatibility information available.
If your vehicle manufactured after 2000 isn’t listed, and you believe ethanol compatibility information about the vehicle is available, it is possible the vehicle could have been missed. Under these circumstances only, please provide the make/model/year details via the website feedback link and we will pass this information back to the database owner. If it is qualified that the vehicle does take E10 this information would appear in a future database update. We are unable to provide individuals with responses as to whether or not their vehicle will be added to the database.
If your vehicle manufactured after 2000 isn’t listed in the database and you are unable to locate any manufacturer information about its’ ethanol compatibility, it is likely the vehicle is missing from the list because there is no relevant information available and therefore cannot be listed on the database.
We are unable to respond to individual questions about the E10 compatibility of any vehicle. If the vehicle is not listed in the E10 compatibility database, please refer to the vehicle manufacturer.
The E10 compatibility database only includes petrol vehicles manufactured after 2000 where the manufacturer provides information about the vehicle’s compatibility with ethanol-blended fuel.
Regardless of whether a vehicle built before 2000 is compatible with ethanol-blended fuel or not, the database will generally not list it. The only exception is if the specifications of a vehicle manufactured after the year 2000 hadn’t changed from a pre-2000 model, then the database also lists the pre-2000 model.
Any feedback provided to us about pre-2000 vehicles missing from the database will not be forwarded to the database owner. We are unable to respond to questions about the E10 compatibility of any vehicle built before 2000. For that information, please refer to the vehicle manufacturer.
The notes have been compiled from fuel related information obtained from vehicle manufacturers and are part of the database.
If a vehicle is listed in the database, it will deliver an E10 compatibility result. For some vehicles, the result will say the vehicle may or may not be compatible, depending on certain factors. This information is provided in the note that comes with the result. For some vehicles, the result will say to refer to the manufacturer.
At any one time, there are vehicles listed in the database that are having one or more aspects of their specifications updated. When this occurs, any search on these vehicles will return a response that says information cannot be found. If your search returns this result, please refer to the manufacturer for E10 compatibility information. We are unable to respond to individual questions about the E10 compatibility of any vehicle.
The database is compiled from fuel related information obtained by the database owner from vehicle manufacturers. If your compatibility result contradicts information that you have obtained directly from the manufacturer (not a third party), please let us know by completing the feedback form and we will pass this information back to the database owner.
We are unable to provide individual clarification as to whether or not a vehicle is E10 compatible. For this information, please refer to the vehicle manufacturer.
If you are searching for a model made in a year in which there was more than one specific model (eg, a 2 litre and a 2.2 litre model) built and the compatibility result is different for 1 or more of those models, and you don’t know which variant is yours, then the result for your search will include all model variations made that year. If you then confirm which model variant is yours, by checking on your Certificate of Registration or in your owners’ manual, you will be able to match the E10 compatibility result against your car.
You can find the vehicle’s make/model/year details on your Certificate of Registration or in the owner’s manual. You can also find this information on the car’s build plate, which is attached to the car when it was made.
For the purpose of determining your car’s E10 compatibility, the build year is the relevant date to use.
The date used by Australian registration authorities to establish the model year is the one on the compliance plate. The compliance plate is fitted once the car comes out of bond storage and before it is delivered to the dealer.
A car could have been built in one year say 2010, but have a compliance plate of 2011, due to the car not coming out of bond storage until 2011.
Yes you can. The database lists the vast majority of vehicles sold across Australia.
If the specifications of a vehicle manufactured after the year 2000 hadn’t changed from a pre-2000 model, then the database also lists the pre-2000 model.
