Opportunities to volunteer with us
We recognise and value the role our volunteers play in supporting our health services. Volunteers improve the health outcomes for patients, clients and families. Volunteers work in our hospitals and in the community.
We advertise for volunteers depending on the needs of our programs. All applicants are interviewed and perform a screening process prior to starting.
Orientation and training will be provided for all programs.
For all volunteer enquiries contact: SNSWLHD-Volunteers@health.nsw.gov.au
How to apply to volunteer
We advertise for volunteers at selected health facilities.
Each applicant will need to:
- complete an application form
- have an interview
- complete a screening process.
Volunteer screening process
The screening process will happen after you have had an interview. Southern NSW staff will then assist successful applicants to get the following screening checks:
- National Criminal Record Check (all roles)
- Working with Children Check and/or Aged Care Check (relevant roles)
- Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination against infectious specified diseases.
Palliative Care Community Support Program
Palliative care volunteers provide emotional, psychological, social and spiritual care and support to the client, carer and family. Through one-on-one visits you will help to maintain quality of life for those you assist.
This is a rewarding and valuable opportunity to make a difference and to provide a compassionate and caring experience for clients, carers and visitors.
To learn more about how you can volunteer, contact your local Volunteer Palliative Care Service Facility.
Transport for Health volunteer drivers
Our Transport for Health Volunteer Drivers help people who have no other means of transport to and from non-urgent medical appointments. We currently operate within Cooma, Goulburn and surrounding areas, using our fleet of vehicles. We specialise in helping people to blocks of Oncology treatment in Canberra.
As a volunteer, you'll be helping people to get to important appointments but also have a nice chat to brighten their day. Your support and assistance can make all the difference in the lives of people who need it most (and we're sure you'll enjoy it too!)
For more information about Volunteering please contact the Transport for Health Officer: SNSWLHD-TransportForHealth@health.nsw.gov.au or call 02 4825 4928 7.30am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday
