The Survey asked patients to rate their experiences of care across a range of areas, and almost all patients (98 per cent) agreed the care they received was ‘very good’ (82 per cent) or ‘good’ (16 per cent).
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Director of Cancer Services Dr Amanda Stevanovic said the positive results highlight our focus of delivering patient-centred care for all patients who use our service.
“We understand that a cancer journey is unique and patient feedback is invaluable in helping us create a more compassionate and supportive care experience,” says Dr Stevanovic.
“Staff at the Centre work tirelessly to ensure every patient feels supported, no matter where they are on their cancer journey. The results of the survey reflect the incredible efforts of our staff and I’m exceptionally proud of their achievements.”
The survey indicates that the compassion and kindness of staff is strong, with many respondents noting staff demonstrated respect and dignity towards them, listened to their views and concerns as well as honoured their cultural and religious beliefs.
Almost all surveyed patients (99 per cent), rated health professional as ‘very good’ or ‘good’, with 98 per cent saying the treatment provided helped them in some way.
One patient praised the relentless professional care given by staff and the careful and lovely responses to questions when they were confused or stressed.
Another patient commended the communication of staff, saying they were able to have a sensible conversation with their specialist and felt they could ask questions and get copies of scan summaries.
A third patient applauded the care and compassion of staff in always putting a smile on their face.
