As both a Registered Nurse and Midwife, she has thrived in a variety of roles across multiple departments, including birthing and maternity units, emergency care, close observation, and inpatient wards. This dynamic environment has allowed her to build a wide range of skills and to embrace the challenges that come with a multi-faceted role.
“I love being multiskilled. Lithgow gives you the opportunity to gain experience in multiple areas, which keeps the job exciting and challenging,” says Hannah.
Lithgow’s diverse setting has offered her the chance to explore different areas, ensuring that each day brings something new and keeps her engaged in her profession.
But what truly stands out for Hannah is the collaborative spirit at Lithgow Hospital. The strong sense of camaraderie within the team, where everyone—whether nurses, midwives, doctors, or allied health staff—works together to deliver exceptional patient care, has created an environment where she feels valued and supported.
“We’re like a family here. Everyone is committed to ensuring patients receive the best care, and we support each other in every aspect of our work. Whether it's nurses, midwives, doctors, or allied health staff, we all work together to make sure everyone is looked after.”
While her dedication to her work is evident, Hannah also understands the importance of balance. She makes self-care a priority, taking regular trips to recharge and ensure she avoids burnout. This commitment to maintaining her wellbeing allows her to continue providing excellent patient care while staying energised and focused.
Looking to the future, Hannah is eager to further develop her skills in both midwifery and nursing with her ultimate aspiration to become a flight nurse and midwife.
For anyone considering a career in health, Hannah offers simple but powerful advice.
“Go for it! With hard work, listening, and a genuine care for others, you can achieve anything.”
