How to access Geographical Names Board information
This guide explains what types of information the Geographical Names Board (GNB) holds and how to access it. You have rights to access GNB's information under the GIPA Act, which promotes open, accountable and fair government.
Open access information
The GNB publishes a large volume of material on this website. We try to release as much government information as possible, either through our website or in another appropriate way, and free of charge or at the lowest reasonable cost.
Under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009, certain information is required by law to be available on our website, free of charge. This is called open access information.
Open access information includes documents such as:
- policies
- fact sheets
- annual reports
- an information guide describing GNB's structure and functions, how those functions affect the community, the type of information held by our agency and how the information can be accessed
- documents tabled in Parliament by or on behalf of GNB
- a disclosure log of information released under formal access applications that may be of interest to the community
- a register of government contracts with a value of $150,000 and over that our agency has with private sector organisations
- a record of open access information not made public because there is an overriding public interest against disclosing that information.
- contracts and tenders currently registered to GNB on the NSW eTendering website.
You should check the open access information at our Resources page to see if the information you are looking for is already available.
