DCS career benefits
DCS offers a range of benefits to make sure you get the best out of working with us.
Competitive pay and conditions
We offer our staff competitive salaries paid fortnightly. Our online system makes it easy for you to keep track of hours worked on your timesheet and to apply for leave.
Sometimes our salaries increase depending on the experience we have gained in the past year.
We offer a range of allowances including on-call allowances or temporary assignment allowance, as well as superannuation (10%).
We also have salary sacrificing options including additional employee contributions to superannuation and novated leases for motor vehicles.
The Public Service Commission has more information about awards and conditions. For more specific information look at the job ad or speak to your recruiter.
Flexible working
The department offers flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance.
Working flexibly means different things to different people. Maybe it’s job sharing, working from other locations, activity-based work or even working around school pick up and drop off. These are some of the flexible work arrangements we offer our people.
You may have the ability to 'bank' extra worked hours, allowing you to build up a small number of hours to access later to take time off.
We also have flexible start and finish times, depending on your work.
DCS has obtained the FlexReady Certificate, meaning we meet the framework requirements that demonstrates we are an organisation committed to providing flexible work arrangements.
We also look after carers who provide unpaid care and support for a family member or friend who needs extra help. In fact, our initiatives practices have helped us achieve Level 1 (Activate) accreditation in the Carers NSW Carers + Employers program.
Leave entitlements
We understand that life happens. When it does, we have a large range of leave entitlements such as four weeks annual leave and paid sick leave, carer's leave, and long service leave.
Parental leave – each new parent is able to access up to 14 weeks leave or adoption leave at full pay. Partners are entitled to two weeks of paid parental leave.
Special leave – a range of different types of leave including pandemic leave, jury duty, and, in some circumstances, even volunteering leave.
Study leave - assistance to take leave while studying.
Wellbeing
We are committed to supporting employee health and wellbeing.
We have a flu vaccination program and provide a Fitness Passport, which gives you access to hundreds of gyms and sporting facilities at locations across NSW.
We run mental health and wellbeing sessions throughout the year which touch on topics like managing stress and burnout. You will also have access to a number of free and confidential phone counselling sessions each year.
Locations across the state
Have you had a recent sea change and moved away from the big smoke?
We have offices located all over NSW from Albury and Armidale to Lithgow, Tamworth and Wagga Wagga (and everywhere in between).
You could work regionally and link in with your team in other offices. All it takes is a discussion with your manager and there’s potential to work from anywhere in NSW.
