Access is available to two LifeSearch system for approved NSW Government users.
Grant of access to register
We provide access to two LifeSearch systems to approved users in NSW Government agencies, subject to the conditions set out in the Grant of access to register (s. 46 and 46a, Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1995).
Who can access LifeSearch systems
LifeSearch is available to the following agencies:
- Department of Family and Community Services — Adoption Information Unit
- International Social Service Australia — NSW Special Search Service
LifeSearch Change of Name is available to the following agencies:
How to access LifeSearch systems
To access LifeSearch systems you'll need to self-register via the LifeLink Registration Portal. Information regarding access to this portal will be provided to your manager.
In the first instance, contact your manager who will:
- ensure you are approved to access LifeSearch
- notify us of the approval.

By accessing and using this online registration gateway site (Registration Site), you acknowledge that you have read these terms and conditions, as updated from time to time ("the Terms"), and you agree to comply with them.
Pre-approval from NSW Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages ("NSWBDM") must be obtained before registering.
The information on this website is directed and available to users who have been pre-approved to access this Registration Site only.
You agree that you have sought and obtained pre-approval to access the Registration Site by NSWBDM.
You agree to keep your password for this site secure at all times.
You agree to immediately notify the NSWBDM of any unauthorised use of your user account or any other breach of security by emailing eregistry-support@customerservice.nsw.gov.au.
Unauthorised use of this website, including, but not limited to, unauthorised entry of this website, misuse of passwords or misuse of information published on this website is prohibited. You acknowledge and agree that any disclosure to or use by any third party of your User Name and Password will constitute unauthorised use.
Whilst NSWBDM endeavours to ensure the accuracy of all information contained on this Registration Site, NSWBDM cannot accept responsibility for any errors in, or omissions from, that information.

You agree to indemnify NSWBDM against any and all liability arising from any claims by third parties in relation to any breach by you of these Terms.
