About this innovation challenge
Data insights can help us create great and vibrant places for our communities.
Combining different datasets about places and visualising them can help us develop insights and better understand our public spaces.
The NSW Government has over 200 datasets available. If we work together and collaborate we will be able to unlock more data and paint a rich picture of our places.
Through this innovation challenge, we want to test how we can use a range of data to generate insights to help us understand:
- how people experience public spaces
- how our places function
- how we can support them to become more vibrant.
Building great insights will help us make better decisions to make our places more vibrant. We will also be able to measure the impact of investments and policy changes.
Challenge statement
In this challenge, we are asking the emerging technology sector to work with industry partners to respond to this question:
How might place-based data sharing and analytics support vibrancy across NSW?
Status
This challenge is currently in the proof-of-concept stage. Localis Technologies (Localis) has been selected to progress their solution. In August 2024, location analytics company Localis was awarded $686,000 to develop a proof of concept of their solution.
The solution will be a cloud-based platform that combines different datasets to provide local councils, businesses, and state government agencies with actionable insights for improved decision-making to create vibrant places.
The platform will focus on three core functions:
- Visualising Data Components
- Providing Actionable Insights
- Benchmarking
The solution uses leading edge technology, which will enhance data analysis capabilities through advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning.
