Who can apply
To be eligible to apply, you need to be living in NSW and over 18 years of age, be unemployed, working in insecure, casualised or part-time work or working in a minimum, or low wage role.
How to Apply
Women’s workforce participation in NSW has increased over the past 2 decades from 54% of women in December 2001 to 61% in December 20231.
However, women continue to work fewer hours than men, they are more likely to be underemployed and spend longer periods of time out of the workforce. The participation rates reduce the more intersectional a women's experience is.
The gender pay gap, workforce 'gender-segregation' and caring responsibilities are further barriers that mean potentially up to 30% of women never re-enter the workforce.
This not only places labour shortages across industries, but it also has social and economic impacts. For example, the NSW economy would increase 8% by 2061 if women in NSW participated in the paid workforce at the same rate as men over the next 20 years2.
This investment aims to:
- increase women’s labour force participation in NSW
- decreases the underemployment rate for women in NSW
- support women’s lifetime financial security
- increase the skills and education levels of working women in NSW
- promote gender diversity in under-represented industries and sectors
- increase gender diversity in decision making and leadership roles in NSW.
The program will be delivered by Australian company Future Women (FW) in partnership with the NSW Government.
