NSW Women's Week
NSW Women’s Week 2025 is set to kick off from Sunday 2 March to Saturday 8 March. Promising a dynamic series of events, focusing on inclusivity and celebrating the achievements of women across NSW.
Events will showcase the remarkable stories and accomplishments of women and girls from diverse backgrounds, including:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
- culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD)
- those living with disability
- LGBTIQA+
- those living in regional, rural and remote NSW.
The week-long celebration will connect, celebrate, and pay tribute to women through a series of engaging events being delivered thanks to the NSW Women's Week grants program and culminates with the announcement of the recipients of the NSW Women of the Year Awards 2025.

Women NSW are proud to support a program of events designed to celebrate, connect and honour the women and girls in our lives. There is something for women and girls of all ages and backgrounds, and we encourage the public to find out what is happening in their communities and get involved.

2 - 8 March | African Women Celebration Week | African Sub-Sahara International Development Agency (ASSIDA) will host a one day event during NSW Women's Week, an African Women's Celebration Week that celebrates African cultures and languages, and will include food stalls, activities, and performances. This event will be family friendly and open to everyone who wants to learn about and celebrate African women/culture. It is also an opportunity to discuss and promote gender equality and empower the girls and women from Sub-Sahara Africa. 2 - 8 March | Empowering Diversity: Women in Arts and Creativity Symposium | Empowering Diversity is a hybrid symposium, held in-person and online, showcasing the strengths and challenges of CALD, migrant, and refugee women in the NSW arts, screen, and creative sectors. The event will feature music, performances, panel discussions, and networking opportunities and will be live-streamed and audiovisual documented. 2 - 8 March | Paint the Town Femme | "Paint the Town Femme" invites young women and First Nations artists to transform Kiama, Gerringong, and Minnamura with stunning public art. Enjoy live painting, participate in free community workshops, and celebrate creativity through vibrant art installations. This event fosters connection, empowerment, and self-expression while leaving a lasting visual legacy for all to enjoy. 2 - 8 March | Yinaagirbang Maywang (Women Together) | Yinaagirbang Maywang (Women Together) is for Aboriginal women and girls to come together to learn and share and provide guidance for future generations grounded in culture. Focusing on wellbeing, community and cultural connections a series of workshops over the week will include: Wiradjuri language, bush foods and medicines, possum skin, weaving, storytelling, making your mark, wellbeing, on Country walk and moving forward. A community exhibition will celebrate the week and share outcomes of the event with the wider community. 2 - 8 March | NSW Women's Week Writing and Poetry Workshop Series | Northern Beaches Libraries will showcase and celebrate female authors living with a disability, with exciting panel events and writing workshops. These workshops are an opportunity for women with disability to connect with community, expand their creative expression, and showcase their writing with a local audience. The workshops will be hosted at Council venues across the Northern Beaches, including Mona Vale Library, Manly Library and Glen Street Theatre. 2 - 8 March | Nourishing Women: A Path to Health and Empowerment | The "Nourishing Women: A Path to Health and Empowerment" seeks to strengthen the health literacy, physical and mental well-being, and community connections among culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) women in NSW. This event provides targeted support and education, featuring interactive workshops on nutrition, fitness, mental health, and leadership, all led by experts from within the CALD community. 3 - 7 March | Because of Her, We Can | Maari Ma provides services and programs for Aboriginal women and girls in Broken Hill, Wilcannia, Menindee and Balranald, and will run Women's Week events in those communities.The focus will be health and wellbeing, with information on health checks and screening, while we provide a healthy lunch, some pampering, and some giveaways, particularly for our elders. In Broken Hill, Kylie Captain, an Aboriginal educator, author and wellbeing advocate, will address the luncheon. 4 - 8 March | Resillience and Radiance | The "Resilience and Radiance" art exhibition showcases the work of women artists who identify as LGBTQIA+. The week-long program includes guided tours, guest speakers, and panel discussions. "Resilience and Radiance" is designed to foster inclusivity, support underrepresented artists, and engage the community in meaningful dialogue about the experiences and roles of women and LGBTQIA+ people. The exhibition will take place at Gallery Lane Cove, an accessible space managed by Centrehouse Inc and owned by Lane Cove Council. More information coming soon. | Lane Cove Council |
4 - 8 March | Celebrating the diversity of regional women | SSI is committed to the integration of newcomers and fostering connections between migrant and Aboriginal communities. Three events will take place. Locations are Coffs Harbour, Tamworth, and Armidale. These gatherings will bring together women from diverse cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and country women, to connect and share experiences. Each child-friendly event will feature world cafe-style discussions on economic participation, complemented by a light lunch and entertainment. Travel support will be available. Thursday 6 March | NSW Women of the Year Awards 2025 Ceremony | The ceremony will announce the recipients of the NSW Women of the Year Awards 2025. | Women NSW, International Convention Centre Sydney |
Friday 7 March | Wellbeing Through Art | This free event is for women with disability or who are d/Deaf to safely connect with and learn from a supportive community, as leading artists and psychologists explore physical and mental health and wellbeing through creative practice. This wheelchair accessible, Auslan interpreted and captioned event will showcase best-practise digital access and inclusion, through enabling equitable and two-way engagement for live and online audiences with varying access needs. The event will be MC'd by Clinical Psychologist Jane Miskovic-Wheatley and will feature three experienced artists with disability. Post-event networking and light refreshments included. Friday 7 March 6pm - 9pm | Women's Work | A new event in Randwick will reclaim the phrase "women’s work" by combining an art show with a night of performance. The event will celebrate the progress made in gender equality while highlighting the gender-based inequalities that still persist today. The phrase, often used to describe labor seen as "less than," will be redefined through creative expression. This event will be free to attend, with tickets required for entry. 7 - 8 March | Khair (خير): A Woman's Tale | Khair (خير) is a new Western Sydney theatre work created and performed by six local women, supported by an all-female technical and creative crew. Premiering during International Women’s Week 2025, the event invites local women to share food, theatre, and culture with their friends. This camp supernatural comedy, developed by an all women, culturally diverse team, explores the healing spaces ethnic women find in hair salons. The day will include high tea from local businesses and performances by young women from the community. Tickets are $15, with 20 tickets per show reserved for volunteers and community members who may not be able to afford them. Saturday 8 March | Her Journey | Come and celebrate Pacific Island women with a fun day using netball to empower and bring the community together. NSW Tonga Netball has strong ties with the Tongan and Pacific Islander communities in NSW. This event includes workshops on money management, health, and leadership, as well as netball clinics, cultural performances, and traditional food. There will also be guest speakers, panel discussions, and networking, all focused on helping women break through cultural and social barriers while promoting economic and personal growth. Saturday 8 March | Rise & Shine: Gamilaroi Women’s Week Celebration | This culturally significant event aims to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and girls, with a focus on the Gamilaroi community in Walhallow, NSW. The day will include cultural workshops, storytelling sessions led by Elders, and a community celebration featuring traditional arts performances and displays. The event addresses the community's need for recognition, empowerment, and connection, providing a space for women to celebrate their achievements, share their stories, and strengthen their cultural identity. | Walhallow Local Aboriginal Land Council/Walhallow Community Hall |
Date to be confirmed | Empowerment through education | Interrelate, in partnership with Share the Dignity will run a series of menstrual events in Coonamble, Cobar and Bourke to empower young Aboriginal women in these communities. Two events are planned for each town: The first event will equip teachers and community leaders with information and language around menstruation, to ensure they they can support young women. The second event will be for young women and will empower them with knowledge around their menstrual cycle.
