
NSW Women's Week
NSW Women’s Week 2025 is set to kick off from Sunday 2 March to Saturday 8 March. Promising a dynamic series of events, focusing on inclusivity and celebrating the achievements of women across NSW.
Events will showcase the remarkable stories and accomplishments of women and girls from diverse backgrounds, including:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
- culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD)
- those living with disability
- LGBTIQA+
- those living in regional, rural and remote NSW.
The week-long celebration will connect, celebrate, and pay tribute to women through a series of engaging events being delivered thanks to the NSW Women's Week grants program and culminates with the announcement of the recipients of the NSW Women of the Year Awards 2025.

Women NSW are proud to support a program of events designed to celebrate, connect and honour the women and girls in our lives. There is something for women and girls of all ages and backgrounds, and we encourage the public to find out what is happening in their communities and get involved.

Sunday 2 March 3pm-4:30pm | So Much Myself: Piano Portraits | Pianist Sonya Lifschitz and Australian composer Robert Davidson present a powerful series of musical portraits honouring female artists, scientists, and leaders across three centuries. Featuring video footage and recordings of the voices of Nina Simone, Dame Nellie Melba, Frida Kahlo, Patti Smith, Julia Gillard, Rachel Carson, and Clara Schumann, this new, important work weaves these extraordinary women’s words and stories into a rich musical tapestry, with Sonya’s piano providing the musical setting. The melodies and rhythms within the voices reveal emotions beyond the words themselves. 2 - 8 March | Yinaagirbang Maywang (Women Together) | Women’s Week Grant Event. Yinaagirbang Maywang (Women Together) is for Aboriginal women and girls to come together to learn and share and provide guidance for future generations grounded in culture. Focusing on wellbeing, community and cultural connections a series of workshops over the week will include: Wiradjuri language, bush foods and medicines, possum skin, weaving, storytelling, making your mark, wellbeing, on Country walk and moving forward. "Nourishing Women: A Path to Health and Empowerment" is a week-long initiative dedicated to enhancing the health literacy, physical and mental well-being, and community connections of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) women in NSW. Taking place from 2nd to 8th March at community centres in Wagga Wagga, Griffith, and Sydney, this event provides a safe and inclusive space for women to learn, connect, and celebrate their heritage. The program features interactive workshops on nutrition, fitness, mental health, and leadership, led by experts from within the CALD community. Attendees will also experience vibrant cultural performances by women and girls, reflecting their unique traditions. Additionally, guests will enjoy authentic Nepalese and Indian cuisine, offering a taste of rich cultural heritage through food. 3 - 7 March | Paint the Town Femme | Women’s Week Grant Event. "Paint the Town Femme" invites young women and First Nations artists to transform Kiama, Gerringong, and Minnamura with stunning public art. Enjoy live painting, participate in free community workshops, and celebrate creativity through vibrant art installations. Monday 3 March 11am | Because of Her, We Can: Health and Wellbeing in Far West NSW | Women’s Week Grant Event. We gather to hear inspirational Gamilaroi woman and guest speaker Kylie Captain, have lunch, and take part in pampering activities and have photographs taken with our female friends and families. We will enjoy each other’s company, talk about the importance of health and wellbeing and how we find that in our lives; supported, connected and together. SSI is committed to the integration of newcomers and fostering connections between migrant and Aboriginal communities. Three events will take place. Locations are Coffs Harbour, Tamworth, and Armidale. These gatherings will bring together women from diverse cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and country women, to connect and share experiences. Tuesday 4 - Friday 7 March | Period Power | Women’s Week Grant Event. Interrelate, in partnership with Share the Dignity, is proud to be holding a series of menstrual education events in local schools in the communities of Coonamble, Cobar, and Bourke. Our goal: to empower girls aged around 10 to 12 to manage their periods with dignity and foster understanding about menstrual health. Interrelate’s highly experienced Relationships and Sexuality Education educators will present a tailored and culturally safe “Managing Menstruation” education program. Every girl will leave empowered and confident, and will receive a Share the Dignity teen ‘It’s in the Bag’ filled with personal care items. We will also be holding an educational session for teachers and community leaders to provide them with the latest accurate information and appropriate language around menstruation to help equip those with influence with the knowledge that enables them to create an environment where young women feel safe, supported and empowered. 4 - 8 March | Resillience and Radiance | Women’s Week Grant Event. Lane Cove Council, in partnership with Gallery Lane Cove and Women NSW, presents Resilience and Radiance, an art exhibition curated by Sarah Rose, celebrating women artists who identify as LGBTQIA+. As part of NSW Women’s Week, this week-long event honours women, and their contribution to the community through art and conversation. Wednesday 5 March 3pm - 5pm | Through Adversity to the Stars: Women in Military Aviation in Australia | Discover some of the inspiring stories of Australian women in military aviation from the Second World War and beyond for a special afternoon of talks at the Anzac Memorial, Hyde Park. From the legendary “Searchlight Girls” who defended New South Wales against enemy aircraft during the Second World War, to the Royal Australian Air Force’s women fighter pilots of today, the talks will celebrate the incredible contributions of Australian women in military aviation. Hear three captivating presentations from leading experts and get up close to fascinating artefacts from the Anzac Memorial’s collection.

Wednesday 5 March 6pm - 9pm | Wellbeing Through Art | Women’s Week Grant Event. Join in person or online for Wellbeing Through Art, presented by Accessible Arts and the Art Gallery of NSW in celebration of NSW Women’s Week 2025. Speakers including Em Rusciano and Hiromi Tango will talk about the myriad benefits of art in an engaging exploration of health, wellbeing and diverse creative expression. Gather and connect with other women who have served and hear from Major General Ana Duncan AM CSC, Commander of the Australian Army’s Forces Command, as she shares inspiring reflections on her journey and experience as a servicewoman. Major General Duncan was the inaugural Commander of Cyber Command, and the second woman to be appointed as the Commander Forces Command. Friday 7 March - Sunday 16 March | Women in Sport Festival | Join us for the annual Women in Sport Festival from 7-16 March 2025 for a week of fun activities which empower young girls and women in sport. It all kicks off on Friday 7 March from 6-9pm at Music in the Podium, Warners Bay Foreshore. An all-women line up will rock the foreshore, along side local sporting groups who provide you the chance to come and try a new sport – tennis, rugby, croquet or aikido.
