Overview of this event
Lauren Hotson’s work, created on Bundjalung country, is inspired by the fragile resilience of the natural world. Her journey with clay, which began in childhood, has been shaped by global experiences in community studios, an internship in Bali, and residencies in Japan and Italy. These influences breathe life into her pieces, reflecting the delicate interplay of light and shadow in nature.
Her latest collection features hand-formed vessels and intricate botanical arrangements, adorned with seeds, petals, and vine-like details that evoke untamed natural beauty. The muted tones of unglazed black and white clay emphasize raw authenticity.
This exhibition contemplates the cyclical nature of life, exploring the strength found in fragility and the balance between humanity and nature. Hotson invites viewers to uncover the resilience hidden in shadows, celebrating nature's capacity for renewal amidst adversity.
