Merimbula Lake

A paradise for water enthusiasts, Merimbula Lake provides boundless opportunities for kayaking, SUPing, fishing, boating and swimming, as well as strolling the foreshore and soaking up the picturesque surroundings. The village of Merimbula is situated on the fringe of Merimbula Lake, and the daily comings and goings of fishermen, oyster farmers, paddlers, swimmers and walkers are intrinsic to the atmosphere of the town. The lake is bordered by beaches, walks and boardwalks, dotted with cafes and is home to famous oysters, a fleet of charter boats and vibrant sea life. Spencer Park Beach enjoys calm waters, a playground, a jetty, amenities, barbecues, showers and shady grassy areas. Bar Beach and its kiosk are surrounded by short bushwalks and have a front-row seat to the surf and boat action of the lake mouth while still offering a safe swimming spot. Explore the tidal lake from the Merimbula Boardwalk, a 3.4-kilometre return journey. Mitchie's Jetty with its timber jetty and small beach is the perfect place to enjoy fish and chips as the sun goes down or to visit for your morning coffee and grab a hire SUP. The Merimbula Lake Boat Ramp is located just south of Merimbula Bridge, providing lake access as well as ocean access via Merimbula Bar. The ramp is two lanes wide, with a wash-down area, lights, fuel and amenities.
