Located on Wonnarua Country at the gateway to the Hunter Valley, Maitland Regional Art Gallery (locally known as MRAG) presents award-winning exhibitions and events alongside engaging and varied public programs, educational offerings, and an in-depth Arts Health program.
MRAG strives to foster creativity, enable inclusion, and promote knowledge amongst the Maitland community, its visitors, and digital audiences. They do this by encouraging a deeper connection to art and ideas through the work of artists, their cultural programs, and the stewardship of their collection which features over 7,000 artworks by both Australian and international artists.
Maitland Regional Art Gallery is free, fully accessible, and always has drop-in activities available for children and families. Café Seraphine is a popular café at the rear of the Gallery that features indoor dining, fresh seasonal produce, and a stunning alfresco area surrounded by a boutique garden.
Be sure to check out the retail store which stocks wares created by local, national, and international artists and craftspeople, including jewelry, cards, books, scarves, bags, and homewares. It’s a one-stop destination for artisan items in the Hunter region.
