The vast expanses of Lake Illawarra are ideal for your favourite water sports.
Learn to stand up paddle board on the flat calm waters or venture out into the ocean for some challenging waves. If boating is what you are after then bring your own boat, there are plenty of boat ramps for easy access or hire a boat for a fun day of fishing. Fish are plenty in Lake Illawarra and there are many great spots to drop a line off the breakwalls or jetties. You can even clean and barbeque your fresh catch by the foreshore.
The lake foreshore is a wonderful place for a barbeque with picnic shelters and playgrounds for the kids to enjoy, the kids will also love to paddle in the calm waters of Lake Illawarra at Reddall Reserve.
The Lake Illawarra Art Trail commencing at Reddall Reserve has some amazing sculptures that depict Shellharbour, the lake, its history and its people.
While you are exploring the lake foreshore venture out to Windang Island, here you will see the remnants of the rails and wheels from an attempt to build a breakwall.
The shared pathway along the foreshore are perfect for a walk or a bike ride, the path extends to Oak Flats to the west or Shellharbour Village to the east, the choice is yours.
