Due to the flooding of tributaries into the Hawkesbury River, significant navigation hazards exist. One such hazard that has recently been identified is a low overhead communication cable extending across the Hawkesbury River in the vicinity of Pacific Park, Lower Crescent Reach. This cable may be as low as 5m overhead at times and less during increased river heights.
Vessel operators are advised to exercise extreme caution when navigating in these waterways including monitoring the available depth of water and air draft.
This navigation warning will remain in place until further notice when the cable can be safely repaired.
Directions
Transport for NSW advises:
- Persons within the vicinity of these waterways must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
