Eden Safe Harbour infrastructure and wave attenuator construction works

The works
Transport for NSW advises vessel operators that construction works related to the Eden Safe Harbour Wave Attenuator project and upgrades to affiliated infrastructure will be occurring in Snug Cove, Port of Eden, from Thursday 24 February 2022 until further notice. This project involves the construction of a wave attenuator to create better sheltered conditions for water users within Snug Cove.
Exclusion zone
Due to the potential to affect the safety of navigation, Transport for NSW has declared an exclusion zone which will be established on the navigable waters of Snug Cove, Port of Eden, from Thursday 24 February 2022 until further notice.
The zone will be marked by on water and land based signage and yellow special mark aqua buoys with flashing yellow lights displayed between dusk and dawn.
This exclusion zone extends a further 30 metres around any active barge or associated works.
The works will involve the mobilisation of various construction plant including; platforms and floating barges, piling barges, pushing vessels, diving vessels and associated activities. Ongoing frequent diving operations, including persons engaged in surface and subsurface diving works, will be occurring in multiple locations, often concurrently, throughout the entire exclusion zone.
Vessel operators are also advised that a 4 knot speed restriction will be in affect when within 100 metres of the construction zone.
The mooring jetty will be closed for upgrade works to all unathorised vessels from 1 July 2022 until further notice. For any vessel movements that may impact on the exclusion zone please contact the Project Manager on 0429 004 631 or Superintendent on 0407 323 966.
All vessel operators and persons using the waters specified above should keep a proper lookout, comply with local buoyage and signage, and exercise extreme caution when navigating near the works.

Directions
Transport for NSW advises:
Persons within the vicinity of the Site must comply with any directions given by the Harbour Master, a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the Construction Works or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
Vessels are required to maintain a safe distance and speed from the works and operators are reminded that the production of wash which impacts unreasonably on the works is an offence (Marine Safety Regulation 2016 – clause 11(2) - Maximum Penalty $5,500.00).
Vessels are required to comply with all signage and buoyage. Failure to comply is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s 11(4) – Maximum Penalty $5,500 in relation to wash and $1,100 for any other case).
Vessels and persons are required to remain beyond 30 metres of the site. Failure to comply is an offence (Marine Safety Regulation 2016, cl 30(1) – Maximum Penalty $5,500.00).
