The works
Transport for NSW advises vessel operators that in order to improve navigation into the entrance of Escott Passage at Lord Howe Island, a set of leads has been installed with oblong front and rear day shapes in orange. These were installed in November 2017 and will continue until further notice.
Navigation warning
The leads are a fixed aid to navigation that displays a set of oblong front and rear day shapes in orange. The safest bearing is 68o. The leads are for daytime entry only and are not lit.
Vessel operators are reminded to be extra vigilant and exercise caution when operating in the area.
This navigation advice remains in place until further notice.
