Low water levels

Navigation warning
Transport for NSW advise vessel operators that the current water levels within Lake Keepit at Tamworth are extremely low. These levels are not expected to rise until the region receives consistent rain for an extended period.
Extreme caution should be taken when navigating Lake Keepit due to the changing waterway conditions and heightened risk of submerged hazards. The low water levels are also resulting in limitations at boat launching sites around the waterway.
Navigation restriction
Low water levels have caused obstructions throughout the lake to become exposed or sit just below the waterline presenting a danger to vessel operators.
Water levels are well below and beyond the toe of boat ramps with a substantial distance of mud and soft soils between the ramps and the waterline making the launching of vessels extremely difficult.
Transport for NSW recommends vessel operators do not use Lake Keepit while the extremely low water levels persist.
All vessel operators are advised to navigate with extreme caution, observe any precautionary information or signage and seek local advice.
Information on the status of the lake levels can be accessed on the WaterNSW - Keepit Dam website.
