About the Inquiry
WorkCover was the NSW Government agency that supported productive, health and safe workplaces for workers and employers.
In 2010 WorkCover had became the subject of news articles due to claims of workplace bullying and harassment of its own employees. This led to then Minister for Finance, the Hon Michael Daley MP, requesting an independent Inquiry into bullying and harassment at WorkCover.
The Inquiry found that:
- many staff had suffered from behaviour which they described as bullying and harassment
- the leadership team had historically not demonstrated leadership capability and action about bullying and harassment
- specific cases of bullying and harassment had not been handled to the satisfaction of complainants or had not followed the correct process in all cases.
The Inquiry reported recommendations for improvement.
