In 2004 Mr David Francis Jackson QC was commissioned to inquire into the Medical Research and Compensation Foundation (MRCF) which was separated from the James Hardie Group.

The Inquiry looked into the MRCF, how it was separated from the James Hardie Group, and whether future asbestos related liabilities and claims could still be met.
