For prospective leaders wanting to shape and change the future of NSW, the NSW Government Graduate Program opens doors for those seeking a bright career in the public sector.

Building government careers

As Australia’s leading government graduate program, graduates work on projects that contribute to making NSW a great place to live, work and visit. With a trio of 6-month rotations across government agencies, the program offers a broad experience that allows them to build their career, no matter what degree they studied.

Graduates from diverse backgrounds are welcomed and encouraged, including people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, people with disability or where English is a second language.

Ongoing employment opportunities

With a competitive salary, support to complete post-graduate study, extensive mentoring and networking activities, the program offers graduates ongoing employment upon successful completion.

NSW Government Graduate Program - Program Overview

“The Graduate Program is the stepping-stone that launched my career with the NSW Government. I continue to proudly work as a public servant many years later, because of my place in the program, and the opportunity it gave me to make this career start.”

– Emma, senior project officer, NSW Department of Education’s Early Childhood Education Directorate

“People always think about the job itself, rather than the change they want to make, but if you want to have a massive impact on something in society, there is a government job for you. With any type of work or policy in government, you will help so many people.”
