The Top 10 Misunderstood Road Rules in NSW is a rules refresher for drivers who may have not stayed up-to-date with changes to the NSW Road Rules in November 2012, which brought the state in line with the Australian Road Rules.
Drivers study the rules in preparation for getting their licence but may then continue driving without consulting changes and learning about new laws.
Mobile phones didn’t exist when some motorists got their driver’s licence but we all need to know how to use a phone legally while behind the wheel.
The guide, released by Transport for NSW, was developed by the Centre for Road Safety from community feedback.
It covers rules governing roundabouts, mobile phones, keeping left, merging, headlights, U-turns, orange traffic lights, safe following distances, school zones and giving way to pedestrians when turning.
The Top 10 guide is available at every Roads and Maritime Services registry across NSW, and also online at the Roads and Maritime Services website.
