Transport for NSW has now issued over 1.2 million Opal cards to customers across NSW. On top of this, 25,000 seniors have ordered the Gold Senior/Pensioner Opal card since it was released last week.
From Tuesday 11 November, customers will be able to visit pop-up Gold Opal card information kiosks to find our more about the Gold Senior/Pensioner Opal card. The first kiosks will be located at Castle Towers in Castle Hill, Eastgate Mall in Bondi Junction and Wollongong Central, with further information kiosks popping up at locations across NSW over the coming weeks.
Minister for Transport Gladys Berejiklian said the latest Opal rollout in Ryde and Willoughby means Northern Sydney customers can now tap onto all trains, all Sydney Ferries and more than 4,700 buses.
“This is great news for locals who have been waiting to join hundreds and thousands of customers across Sydney and the regions to use Opal and access cheaper fares and more convenient travel,” Ms Berejiklian said.
She added, “I am pleased we now have more buses live with Opal in time for the release of the Gold Opal card for seniors and pensioners, who can now use electronic ticketing to get $2.50 travel a day on public transport.”
You can get an Adult or Child/Youth Opal card or top-up at any time online, over the phone by calling 13 OPAL (13 67 25), visiting the Opal card website or from more than 1,400 Opal retail stores.
Seniors and pensioners can have the Gold Opal card sent to their homes by calling 13 67 25 (13 Opal) or visiting the Opal card website.
