Mental Health at Work Programs Privacy Collection Notice
Information on how we handle your personal information when you send us an enquiry or register for our free programs, including training and coaching programs and workshops.
1. Who we are
Your information is being collected by SafeWork NSW. SafeWork NSW gives priority to protecting the privacy of your personal information, in accordance with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PIPP Act).

2. Why we collect your personal information
SafeWork NSW is collecting your personal information for the purposes of responding to your enquiry, determining your eligibility and registering you for our free programs.
3. The kinds of information we collect
We may collect the following information:
- Your full name and contact details (email and phone number).
- Employment details/details about your workplace (sector, industry, business name and workplace address).
4. Failure to provide information
Your information is provided voluntarily. If you choose not to provide your information, we may not be able to consider or process your application to our programs.
5. How we use your information
We may also use the information we collect in the following ways:
- To establish and maintain a secure database for use by the mental health project team for stakeholder related activities such as sending you our newsletters, contacting you about the work of the mental health team, providing you with an opportunity to work with us, inviting you to participate in our programs and providing you with information about other programs we offer
- Internal administrative purposes, including liaising with you in relation to your application or enquiry.
- To improve the quality of our services, support more informed program management, evaluation, research, and service planning to facilitate more efficient service delivery.
- Other directly related purposes.
6. Who we may share your information with
Your information may be provided to, and accessed by, a third-party (Black Dog Institute and Transitioning Well) for the management of our free programs. If you are eligible for our programs, the third-party provider (Black Dog Institute and Transitioning Well) may contact you to further progress your application and/or to provide you information in relation to your business’ entitlement to other programs.
Your information may also be provided to a third-party (Black Dog Institute and Transitioning Well) who conducts surveys or activities on behalf of SafeWork NSW to evaluate and promote SafeWork NSW products and programs. You may opt-out of any activities arising from this arrangement at any time by contacting our team via email at mentally.healthy.workplaces@safework.nsw.gov.au.
We will not disclose your information to anybody else unless we are authorised or permitted to do so by law or where you have given consent. Our Privacy Statement describes when this may occur.
7. Protecting your information
We will store and manage your information in accordance with the provisions of the PPIP Act. We have measures in place to help protect your personal information from loss, unauthorised access, use, modification, disclosure, or other misuse.
We will only keep information for as long as we need it to fulfil the purposes we collected it for. After which, the information will be disposed of securely in accordance with the State Records Act 1998 and any other applicable legislation.
