The 2024-25 NSW Budget is funding:
- $18.2 million for major upgrades to modernise Waverley Police Station
- $4.7 million for upgrades and repair works at Rose Bay Police Station
- $6.3 million to replace cladding at Raymond Terrace, Liverpool, Granville and Wyong police stations
- $1.6 million to upgrade 3000 radio terminals
- $14.5 million to continue upgrades at the Goulburn Police Academy
- $10.3 million for strategic hosting Data Centre migration.
A further $14.2 million will improve the capability of the Forensic Evidence and Technical Services Command, specifically within its High-Tech Crime Branch.
This funding enhancement will ensure officers have modern, cutting-edge forensic technology to investigate and solve crimes across the state.
$10.4 million will fund the state’s component of the National Firearms Register, fulfilling a 50/50 funding split between the Commonwealth, States and Territories.
The register will share firearm ownership across jurisdictions and provide frontline police officers near real-time information on firearms, parts and owners.
To further support NSW Police, $1.4 million will help fund PCYC club manager wages so the organisation can continue to guide young people towards fulfilling lives.
The NSW Government is committed to the long-term plan of reinvesting in our essential services with both physical infrastructure as well as the people who run the services the people of NSW need.
It builds on our commitment to attract more people to the force to address the chronic shortage of officers:
- abolishing the wages cap
- setting up a new scheme to pay recruits while they study to become an officer, which has already seen applications surge by more than 40%
- two recently announced programs specifically aimed at attracting both experienced officers and regional recruits.
This is part of the Minns Labor Government’s plan to build better, safer communities for NSW.
A plan to recruit and rebuild a stronger NSW Police Force, backing officers who risk their lives to keep our communities safe.
A plan to build a better NSW.
