Three Bluey-inspired designs are the latest in the commemorative birth certificate series by the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, which is now consulting the public on ideas for future certificates.
Bluey first hit Australian TV screens in 2018 and has since made waves both locally and abroad with its heart, humour and relatable family moments.
Whether it is the quintessential Queenslander home where Bluey and her family live, the rolling hills and farmland seen on a road-trip to New South Wales, or Bluey and Bingo building sandcastles on Australia’s iconic Bondi Beach – the familiar scenes of Bluey are depicted across three certificates families can choose from.
The three Bluey designs follow on from the new-look Blinky Bill certificate which launched in July this year, and they take the Registry’s total number of different commemorative certificates to 38.
Since 2014, the Registry has sold more than 221,000 commemorative birth certificates, with people now invited to have their say on what design they would like to see next. The commemorative birth and marriage certificate Have Your Say consultation is now live.
A commemorative birth certificate is not just for newborns, but for anyone born or adopted in NSW to make a colourful statement at any age. Commemorative birth certificates do not hold any legal status and sit alongside someone’s official birth certificate identification document.

Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government Jihad Dib said:
“We are excited to share these fun and colourful Bluey-inspired designs, to help capture the joy of a new baby or celebrate a special birthday.
“The commemorative certificates respond to customers wanting to celebrate the birth of their child and now the Registry is encouraging the community to have their say and help shape future designs.
“Commemorative certificates are a special way to show your love for a favourite character, have your name against your favourite footy team’s colours or to commemorate your heritage with one of our Indigenous art designs or Chinese Lunar New Year certificates.”
Registrar NSW Births, Deaths and Marriages Theresa Fairman said:
“With more than 38 different commemorative birth certificate designs now on offer, the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages is looking forward to hearing what customers want to see next with commemorative certificates by visiting the NSW Government’s Have Your Say page.”
“Maybe it is more cultural significant styles, or perhaps iconic NSW landscapes. We want to hear from everyone so we can deliver the commemorative certificates people love and want.”
