In order to protect the welfare, interests and safety of young people and employees in Centres, Youth Justice utilises a range of procedural and physical security measures to minimise the risk of harm and occurrence of incidents.
The purpose of this policy is to:
- inform employees of their roles and responsibilities for the effective and approved use and maintenance of Body-Worn Camera, Closed-Circuit Television, Hand-held Video Camera (HVC) footage and technology
- set out how officers of Youth Justice NSW are to carry out their work in order to comply with the relevant legislation
- set out how Youth Justice NSW meets Child Safe Standards and the requirements of the Child Safe and Mandatory Reporting Policy to keep young people safe from abuse and neglect within safe and secure Youth Justice NSW environments.
- note the purposes for which the resultant footage can be utilised.
