Construction of a new clinical services building at Nepean Hospital has begun with the first sod turned, marking the start of Stage 2 of the Nepean Redevelopment.
The second stage will complete the $1B redevelopment of Nepean Hospital to meet the current and future needs of the local community.
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Chief Executive, Kay Hyman says the construction milestone marks another exciting step in the transformation of Nepean Hospital.
“The opening of the Stage 1 clinical tower last year was a landmark moment for our staff and community, who have benefited from our enhanced service delivery.”
“Our staff have been closely involved in the design of Stage 2 and we know, from the delivery of the first building, what can be achieved for the benefit of our patients and staff,” Kay says.
“This second hospital building offers many exciting opportunities to further grow and develop our health service to better care for and support the local community.”
Stage 2 of the Nepean Redevelopment includes a new intensive care unit, renal services, medical imaging, more inpatient units, as well as an accessible and welcoming front-of-house for Nepean Hospital.
The new building will seamlessly connect to the hospital’s 14-storey tower, constructed as part of Stage 1 of the Redevelopment and opened in May 2022.
