What’s this about?

Transport for NSW would like to extend the times of the current No Parking zone on Rutledge Street, Eastwood to provide 2 continuous lanes of traffic during busy times on weekends.

The No Parking zone is located between Shaftsbury Road and Trelawney Street and the proposal would extend times to include 11am to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Proposed changes

Currently, Rutledge Street has a No Parking zone that is in operation from 6:0am to 9:30am and 3:30pm to 6:30pm on weekdays. This helps to ease traffic congestion during peak travel times.

Traffic studies conducted by Transport for NSW as well as City of Ryde Council have shown that this street experiences a high amount of congestion on the weekend when people access the town centre.

The new proposal would extend No Parking times to include Saturdays and Sundays between 10am and 5pm to improve traffic flow on these days.

This will mean a total of 14 parking spaces will become No Parking between 11am and 5pm on weekend days.

Benefits

Extending the days and times of the No Parking zone will:

  • Reduce the amount of congestion on Rutledge Street on weekends.
  • Provide 2 lanes for motorists, which will prevent traffic build up when drivers turn right onto Shaftsbury Road.
