Review of bus services to Balmain East

Transport for NSW is seeking feedback from the community on potential adjustments to bus services 442 and 445 that operate to Balmain East Wharf.

What’s this about?

In 2018, changes were made to some bus services, including route 442 between the Sydney CBD and Balmain, and route 445 between Campsie and Balmain.

This included introducing additional services across the week on route 442 operating between the Sydney CBD and Balmain East Wharf and changing route 445 to operate between Campsie and Gladstone Park, Balmain.

The changes were made to improve service frequency, provide additional capacity and improve the reliability of these services.

Transport for NSW is currently reviewing these services. This review reflects a NSW Government election commitment to investigate options to restore route 445 to operate to Balmain East Wharf via Darling Street.

The proposed options for consideration and community feedback are:

  • Restore route 445 to operate to and from Balmain East Wharf together with route 442, which will require some local parking changes.
  • Operate a select number of route 445 services to and from Balmain East Wharf, which will require some local parking changes.
  • Maintain routes 442 and 445 as they currently operate, but with an increased frequency on route 445.
  • No changes to current operations (route and service frequency) of both services.
