What’s this about?

The Geographical Names Board (GNB) is seeking community feedback on a proposal by Kempsey Shire Council to name a reserve in the locality of West Kempsey as Terry Giddy Sports Complex.

The proposed sports complex is bounded by Collin Tait Avenue, Kemp Street and Thompson Street in the suburb of West Kempsey, in the Kempsey Local Government Area.

The GNB is the authority for place naming in NSW. Place names reflect the relationship between people and place and create a link that forms the basis for communication, location and addressing. Place names are expected to be enduring, so it is important that they are meaningful and reflect the diversity within our communities.

Place naming is a community driven process. Your feedback is important to assist the GNB in making decisions about place names in NSW. Community feedback ensures that names reflect local values and sensitivities, fostering a sense of ownership and connection to the area.
