Killalea Regional Park draft plan
What’s this about?
Killalea Regional Park is on Dharawal Country, between Shellharbour and Kiama in the Illawarra Region of NSW. The park is a very popular destination for locals as well as visitors from outside the region.
This draft plan describes how we propose to manage the park and includes proposals to:
- acknowledge significant cultural connections and strengthen partnerships with Aboriginal people
- protect and manage important biodiversity and coastal ecosystems, including a critically endangered vegetation community and a freshwater lagoon
- support recreation activities and opportunities for learning including enabling upgrades to visitor facilities.
The draft plan is accompanied by a draft precinct plan that includes more details about the design and construction of the proposed upgrades to the park's main visitor precinct. It is recommended that readers of the plan refer to the draft precinct plan for more details on these proposals.
