Early safety works for Bandon Road and Riverstone Parade at Vineyard

Transport for NSW is progressing the planning for the Bandon Road Corridor Upgrade and Extension to support the growing North West community.

The new Bandon Road corridor includes a 6.5 kilometre, 4-lane road with a central median to allow for future widening, a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists, a new road underpass of the Richmond railway line at Vineyard and improvements to the flood evacuation route on Wallace and Bandon Roads.

As part of the planning for the upgrade and extension, Transport has identified early safety works at the corner of Bandon Road and Riverstone Parade at Vineyard which will provide a safer intersection for motorists and pedestrians.

Proposed changes

The proposed upgrade works include:

  • a commuter car park with more than 70 parking spaces for motorists using train services at Vineyard Station
  • accessible parking and improved bus stop facilities for northbound and southbound services
  • intersection improvements for motorist safety and a pedestrian refuge for safe crossing of Riverstone Parade
  • upgraded road kerbs and around 150 metres of new pedestrian footpaths
  • landscaping with garden beds and low growth vegetation.

Benefits of the proposed early safety works

The benefits of the proposal include:

  • convenient access to public transport helping commuters connect to bus and train services
  • road resurfacing and line marking, gutters, wayfinding and footpaths making it easier for motorists and pedestrians to move in and around the intersection and Vineyard Station
  • improved connectivity and safety for pedestrians with new footpaths and a pedestrian refuge for pedestrians to cross Riverstone Parade to Vineyard Station from the new commuter car park
  • enhanced accessibility with accessibility parking and a ‘kiss and drop’ zone at Vineyard Station
  • improvements to the look of the area with landscaping and low growth vegetation.
