About the Project

The Gipps Street project will see the former waste/tip site rehabilitated and turned into a 32ha recreation precinct. The project will addresses a variety of active and passive recreation needs and will incorporate new sporting fields, basketball court, multi-courts, children's play areas, amenities building, netball courts, cricket nets, skate bowl with a youth zone, outdoor gym, village green and nature trails.

Project Scope

The 32-hectare precinct will offer:

  • four full size rectangular fields and one junior size field suitable for a variety of rectangular field sports.
  • two full size cricket / AFL ovals with synthetic wickets. 
  • two netball courts. 
  • four lane district-level cricket practice facilities. 
  • central amenities building equipped with a canteen, multi-purpose area, four large change rooms that can be converted in eight smaller change rooms, change room for officials, storage space and accessible toilet facilities. 
  • car parking including designated coach drop off areas.
  • inclusive children’s play areas including water play.
  • a youth precinct with a skate park and pump track. 
  • dog park. 
  • walking trails and picnic areas.

Progress Summary

  • Community event held to officially open the precinct in August 2024.
