About the Project

The Balcombe Heights Estate Centenary Sensory Garden Project revitalises an unused grass area at Balcombe Heights Estate to provide an inclusive space for relaxation and passive recreation for all ages and abilities.
The garden includes a variety of sensory stimulation features across sound, colour, smells, shapes and textures, which can provide relief and enhance the experiences of visitors including people with autism or dementia.

  • Ramp from aged care to garden 
  • Accessibility features including wheelchair accessible paths & ramps, and handrails
  • Level paving and retaining walls
  • Raised garden bed 
  • Lighting and irrigation
  • Aboriginal Art features and child safe water feature
  • Musical features
  • Educational signage
  • Pergola and play area for children
