About the Project

The North Richmond Community Precinct Project is a community meeting hub to serve the social, cultural and recreational needs of the community while acting as a much needed emergency evacuation centre for residents. The project integrates new and upgraded facilities, including a new library, performing arts and rehearsal space, multipurpose art studio, indoor sports stadium, change-rooms, outdoor amenities and a shared bike path.

Project Scope

The project features:

  • A library service and technology space. 
  • A combined performing art/youth space extension to the existing Youth Centre to create a performing arts and rehearsal space with a mobile stage for musical and theatrical productions
  • A multipurpose art studio space. 
  • An indoor sports stadium and change rooms to support hard-court sports including netball, basketball, futsal, and volleyball.
  • A fit-for-purpose emergency evacuation centre for use during natural disasters through upgrades to the existing centre, improving function by:
    • increasing food storage capacity
    • installing a commercial kitchen
    • creating dedicated and secure spaces for counselling
    • storage of residents’ records
    • storage for bedding and mobility assistance equipment
    • storage for a backup generator
  • Precinct grounds improvements to create a mix of active and passive outdoor spaces with seating, shaded areas, BBQs, and a shared bike path. 
  • Additional carparking spaces
