About the Project

The Gandangara Support Centre - Veteran Rehabilitation and Youth Diversion Programs Project establishes a First Peoples’ centre providing dual programs for Veterans and ex Service men members and Young People at risk of re-offending.

A culturally sensitive model and psychologically supportive space that will foster and improve quality of life for participants.

The fully accessible centre will operate from two purpose built green star facilities on Aboriginal owned land in Cumberland LGA.

Project Scope

The project features:

  • Adaptive reuse of the MCredie Cottage and over 11,000 metres of surrounding Aboriginal owned land.
  • Reuse of McCredie Cottage  as a First People’s Veteran’s Centre.
  • Construction of a new First People’s Youth Centre.
  • New Driveway from Byron Road Guildford to provide access to both Centres  and new parking facilities to be used by patrons and staff
  • New landscaped areas for both Centres and Driveway
  • Interpretive walk to demonstrate First People’s connection to the area
