About the Project

The SmartenUp Blackheath Community Centre Project transforms the Centre into a functional, sustainable multi-purpose performance space, meeting place and event venue with effective, energy-efficient heating, cooling and lighting, and an energy-self-sufficient short-term shelter for vulnerable residents in a town that faces frequent blackouts due to bushfire, wind and snowfall.

Project Scope

  • 98 off-grid solar panels with 128kw hours of battery backup 
  • Ducted reverse-cycle air conditioning
  • High-quality theatre-style drapes for improved acoustics and energy efficiency
  • Sealing of gaps around doors and windows
  • Energy efficient lighting throughout the Centre
  • Sound, lights and projection system upgrade to professional standard
  • Water tanks
