Program objective
CASP supports community arts and cultural development in regional NSW through small grants that:
- Assist locally determined community arts and cultural activities
- Increase opportunities for regionally based groups to access a diverse range of arts programs
- Enable communities to explore and express their cultural identities
- Bring social and economic benefits to the community through training, employment and promotional opportunities
- Lead to greater awareness and appreciation of cultural diversity
- Increase the sustainability and resilience of regionally based community arts organisations

Eligibility
Who can apply
The following categories are eligible to apply:
- Individuals
- A collective with a Nominated Funds Administrator
- Incorporated Groups
- A local government authority
- A not-for-profit incorporated body
Individuals can apply for up to $1000 Groups/Collectives/Organisations* can apply for up to $5,000
*Unincorporated groups or collectives will be required to have a Nominated Funds Supervisor/Auspice.
Location that are eligible include Broken Hill, Central Darling, Unincorporated Far West, Wentworth
Who the grant is targeted towards
Individuals, groups and organisations located in Far West NSW and seeking support for an arts and cultural activities.
Types of projects funded under this grant
What will be funded?
CASP grants may be used to support a range of arts and cultural activities across any arts genre, including visual arts, crafts, theatre, music and film.
Examples of projects that may be funded include, but are not limited to:
- Development of new works
- Workshops (funds should primarily support artist/tutor fees and/or materials)
- Performances
- Exhibitions
- Artists-in-Residence projects
- Community arts projects
- Core equipment purchases, eg:
- A professional musician/artist looking to upgrade an instrument or technical equipment;
- An organisation/group looking to upgrade or purchase equipment such as a kiln or printing press.
When the project can start and end
Projects must be delivered between 1 February and 31 December 2025.
The project should be started by 1 February 2025 and the project must be completed by 31 December 2025.

Who can’t apply
The following categories are not eligible to apply:
- Individuals who cannot demonstrate an established practice
- Commercial enterprise
- Anyone with overdue reports or acquittals for any funding programs administered by West Darling Arts
- State and federal government departments, including schools (except P&Cs who are incorporated)
Types of projects not funded under this grant
CASP will not fund
Activities or projects that are not directly related to the Arts, or that do not demonstrate benefit to the Far West community. This includes:
- Fees toward education or courses
- Project staffing costs (for organisations)
- Recovering the costs of items and/or materials already purchased
- Fundraising, awards or prize money

Address the eligibility criteria
Each applicant, as part of an application response, must confirm that they meet the eligibility criteria.
Applicants that do not address the eligibility criteria in full may be excluded from the application process at the department's discretion.
Address the assessment criteria
How will my application be assessed?
Applications will be assessed on their merit and positive impact on the creative development of the Far West community.
Your application should show us how it meets the following criteria:
1. Merit
The artistic reason for your project, including:
- What is your project/activity about?
- Who is involved and why?
- How have you prepared for it?
- The reason for doing the project/activity.
- The professionalism and/or experience of the people involved.
2. Impact (Benefit)
Explain how the project/activity will benefit you and/or the community/ies involved in the project/activity.
3. Viability
Include your project plan, timeline and budget to show how you will effectively manage and use resources to do the project/activity.

Assessment will take place in December 2024.
Applicants will be notified of outcomes within 6 weeks of submission.

After the application is submitted
Successful applications will be decided by: West Darling Arts Assessment Panel
Applications will be assessed by a panel of local arts professionals, and representatives from West Darling Arts. Applications will be assessed against the Assessment Criteria.
Anticipated assessment outcome date is January 2025
Anticipated date for funding deed execution with successful applicants is January 2025
