Program objective
The Centre will be used as a space for innovation, quality research and global collaboration, and promote NSW's capability in higher education, science and technology.
- Increase the presence of NSW educational institutions in the Middle East and North Africa region
- Increase the number of international students enrolling in NSW educational institutions
- Provide access for NSW Government and NSW educational institutions to use a data research and event facility
- Provide an offshore location to showcase NSW's educational, technology and innovation capabilities.
This program is funded and administered by Department of Enterprise, Investment and Trade.

Project specific Grant Guidelines were prepared.
The Grant Guidelines required the University of Wollongong to prepare a grant proposal that detailed:
- The key outcomes of the proposal for NSW
- Forecast of the number of additional international students that would be attracted to study at NSW based educational institutions as a result of the proposal
- How the opportunity to establish a research facility aligns to both University of Wollongong's research objectives and how the intellectual property developed at the facility could be embedded in NSW.

Successful applications will be decided by: The Hon. Alister Henskens, SC MP, Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade, Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology, Minister for Sport, and Minister for Skills and Training.
The University's Grant Proposal was reviewed against the Grant Guidelines and economic break even analysis was performed to confirm value for money outcomes could be achieved.
