Country Shows Support Package 2022 - Process and Outcomes Evaluation
The 2022 Country Shows Support Package (CSSP) successfully distributed $4.2 million to 163 events across regional NSW.
The objective of CSSP was to deliver local economic stimulus and boost the liveability of communities by supporting COVID-safe country shows to be held in 2022.
This Process and Outcomes Evaluation assesses the process components of the program including appropriateness, efficiency and effectiveness of the design and implementation of CSSP, and captures short to medium term outcomes of the program.
It covers activities relating to program design, application, and assessment processes.
The program received a total of 169 applications, funding 163 events across 91 NSW Local Government Areas.
The evaluation found that the CSSP was generally well designed to meet the needs of the target group, and the program was valued by communities in regional NSW.
There were clear outcomes that aligned with the objectives of the fund.
The evaluation found that the CSSP supported COVID safe shows, provided increased funding certainty and provided economic stimulus to local communities.
Data on outcomes showed that the CSSP supported ‘bigger and better shows’ post- COVID and attracted more visitors overall compared to previous shows.
Evidence suggests that country shows contribute to community connectedness and wellbeing and provide a platform for community collaboration.
