Program objective
The objectives for this exercise are outlined below:
- To identify a suite of eligible properties that will benefit from the upgrade of energy related assets including solar upgrades and temperature control upgrades (air conditioning) with delivery to be managed by the relevant Providers.
- To increase the value of Provider properties and reduce ongoing maintenance requirements related to aged or unsuitable heating and cooling options.
- To reduce the operating costs of Provider properties by completing a works program that aims to reduce electricity costs through the implementation of solar power options.
- To increase environmentally sustainable solutions in Provider properties by delivering a works program that considers a reduction of costs of living for heating and cooling (implementation of solar).
- Spread funding across suitable Providers with a maximum allocation per application capped at $250k.
- To manage a fair, transparent and auditable process in the identification of suitable properties and the allocation of funding.
This program is administered by Department of Communities and Justice.
Eligibility
Who can apply
Applicant's must meet the eligibility criteria and the project criteria for expenditure to be considered eligible, including they must:
- be a NRSCH or NSWLS registered Aboriginal Community Housing Provider (ACHP); or
- an AHO registered Aboriginal Community Housing Organisation (ACHO); or
- an Aboriginal Organisation who is not yet registered but will need to apply and be approved for transitional registration with the AHO for the duration of the program.
Types of projects funded under this grant
A list of affected properties / assets will need to be submitted through the Grant process to be considered. They must be:
- Community Owned
- Located in New South Wales
- Must meet requirements of Energy Efficiency Program – new solar PV systems, heat pump hot water systems, reverse-cycle air conditioners and ceiling fans.
Types of projects not funded under this grant
- Properties / assets owned by AHO

Before submitting your application, you will need to collate the following essential information:
- Registration details
- If not registered the applicant will be required to complete and submit the AHO Register, New Entrants Form - Transitional Registration within your application.
- List of affected properties / assets using the Returnable Schedule - Energy Efficiency Property Details spreadsheet (the completed spreadsheet must be uploaded within your application
Address the eligibility criteria
Each applicant, as part of an application response, must confirm that they meet the eligibility criteria.
Applicants that do not address the eligibility criteria in full may be excluded from the application process at the department's discretion.
Address the assessment criteria
Applications are assessed by:

Asset / Property Assessment

Previous Experience andCapability
- Internal / external project management / delivery resources to implement and deliver works including experience of delivery team?
- Previous experience in delivering similar projects across your property portfolio including Government Grants and privately funded projects?
