Program objective
The Aboriginal Communities Emergency Program aims to achieve the following outcomes:
- Discrete Aboriginal Communities (DAC’s) and local emergency management agencies will be better prepared to respond and recover from emergencies and disasters.
- Identify and strengthen local partnerships that contribute to sustainable emergency management in the four DAC’s
- Aboriginal culture, including caring for country knowledge and practices and emergency and disaster management practices are equally valued, championed and integrated in the preparation, response, and recovery from disasters
- will inform and influence future emergency management on Discrete Aboriginal Communities (DAC’s) through Aboriginal leadership, evidence - based research and co-design.
This program is administered by Aboriginal Affairs.
